A Masterbilt home under construction in Colorado

The Process

The MasterBilt Custom Home Building Process

Five clear chapters, one team from first sketch through eleven-month warranty walk. The same way we've done it on the Front Range since 1991.

Why it matters

A custom home shouldn't be a mystery.

Most of the stress in building a custom home comes from not knowing what happens next, what it will cost, and who to call when something needs a decision. We've spent every year since 1991 refining a process that removes those three questions.

You'll know the price before construction starts. You'll see your house every week. And the same family will be answering the phone years after you've moved in.

The Five Chapters

Discovery. Design. Pre-construction. Build. Steward.

Every Masterbilt project moves through the same five chapters — whether it's a new custom home, a whole-home remodel, or an addition. The order doesn't change. The clarity is the point.

  1. 01

    Weeks 1 – 3

    Discovery

We walk your land together — or tour the home you're thinking of remodeling — and listen to how you actually live. Mornings, weekends, holidays, the dog, the in-laws. We sketch the first ideas on the kitchen table, talk honestly about budget, and decide together whether we're the right fit.

    What you receive

    • Site walk & feasibility review
    • Lifestyle & program interview
    • Preliminary budget range
    • Honest go / no-go conversation
  2. 02

    Months 2 – 6

    Design

Architect, interior designer, and builder collaborate in the same room — never in silos. You see floor plans, elevations, and material boards evolve together so the house, the finishes, and the price stay in sync from day one. No surprise redraws six months in.

    What you receive

    • Schematic floor plans & elevations
    • 3D walkthrough of the home
    • Interior finish & fixture direction
    • Structural, mechanical & energy coordination
  3. 03

    Months 6 – 8

    Pre-construction

Every line item is priced, every selection sourced, every schedule agreed before a shovel turns. We submit for permits, finalize subcontractor bids, and lock the construction calendar. You sign a fixed, transparent contract — not an estimate that drifts.

    What you receive

    • Full construction drawings & specs
    • Permits, HOA & engineering approvals
    • Fixed-price contract & line-item budget
    • Master schedule with monthly milestones
  4. 04

    Months 8 – 18

    Build

One superintendent, one trusted crew, on your jobsite every day. You get weekly walk-throughs, real photos in a shared portal, and a single phone number when a question comes up. We've been building on the Front Range since 1991 — the trades on your house are people we've worked with for decades.

    What you receive

    • Weekly on-site walk-throughs
    • Online project portal with photos & selections
    • Single point of contact, daily updates
    • Quality checks at every major phase
  5. 05

    Move-in & beyond

    Steward

On move-in day we walk the home with you, hand over the binders, and show you how every system works. We come back at eleven months for a full warranty walk — and we keep your file forever. Call us in twenty years about a remodel; the same family will still pick up.

    What you receive

    • Move-in orientation & systems training
    • Homeowner binder + digital records
    • 11-month warranty walk-through
    • Lifetime relationship & service support

How We Work

Four promises behind every Masterbilt build.

One team, start to finish

The same superintendent, project manager, and trade partners stay with your home from groundbreaking through warranty. Continuity is the quietest luxury.

Fixed price, not floating estimate

We finish design and selections before we sign a contract. You know the real number before construction begins — and it doesn't drift.

Transparent, in writing, every week

Schedule, budget, change orders, and photos live in a shared online portal. Nothing about your home should be a surprise to you.

Built to last decades, not warranty periods

Concealed framing, mechanical systems, and waterproofing are detailed the way we'd build for our own families. That's why we're still maintaining homes we built in the nineties.
